Changing How We Care, Not That We Care: Supporting Children and Families During Ever-Changing Times

Wednesday, March 10, 2021
10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

Presenter: Robin H. Gurwitch, Ph.D., professor, Center for Child & Family Health, Duke University Medical Center

Description: The COVID-19 pandemic has created new stressors for children and families already coping with stressful lives. As we strive for equity, racial and ethnic disparities as they impact families, further increase levels of stress, anxiety and worry. Those working with children and families are also balancing the needs of their own families and this is not always easy. The presenter will address how the pandemic and other recent events have affected children and families and those who serve them. Ideas and strategies to reduce stress and increase coping and resilience for everyone will be discussed.
